Characters
Angela is an eighteen-year-old wannabe guardian angel who is exceptionally beautiful but deeply flawed by an immense sense of pride and an indomitable, rebellious spirit. Though she possesses an underlying capacity for love and goodness, she is stubborn, easily angered, and fiercely independent to the point of refusing help even when she is failing. Driven by a desperate obsession to get her wings and become a warrior like her late parents, her impatience and overconfidence often blind her to her own profound cluelessness about human beings.
Gabe is an older, highly trim archangel who embodies the ultimate definition of "cool," complete with a flair for playing a stirring trumpet and managing deep crises. He serves as a patient yet firm authority figure, holding a deep loyalty to the memory of Angela's heroic parents while regularly groaning in exasperation at Angela's constant linguistic blunders and pride. Though he is authoritative and acts as a strict guide, he has a softer, compassionate side that leads him to look out for those in trouble and engineer a 30-day earthly redemption mission for Angela rather than letting her face a harsh five-year punishment.
Richard Beasley is a wealthy twenty-nine-year-old human degenerate who lives a completely reckless, devil-may-care lifestyle at his sprawling, magnificent estate. He is highly superficial, deeply soused, and spends his time driving fast cars, gambling away his inheritance, and indulging in wild, chaotic parties. While he is incredibly shallow and easily amused by the misfortune of others, including Angela's, he also possesses a funny and magnetic charm that constantly keeps a crowd of superficial women fawning over him.
Roderick is Richard Beasley’s staid and good-looking brother. In stark contrast to his reckless, party-loving sibling, Roderick is serious and seemingly business-minded, engaging in a cutthroat, calculated rivalry against Richard. He faces off against his brother in a high-stakes, cutthroat game to win control over the Beasley properties that were bequeathed equally to them as an inheritance.
Mona travels in Richard's inner circle but stands out for her underlying capacity for empathy. While she is described as temperamental and is capable of bickering sharply with her shallow peers, she is the only person in the group who recognizes Angela's distress and physically steps in to help her. Mona is also a talented performer, stepping up to sing and entertain the crowd at parties in the Beasley mansion.
